Live audio that sounds like the room

PulseCast is live audio - rooms, shows and podcasts - that stays crisp and in sync for thousands of listeners at once. We built the real-time pipeline so hosts sound like they're in the room, wherever the audience is.

The pipeline

From source to screen

Four stages, each independently observable, so the real bottleneck surfaces in seconds - not during a live event.

01

Capture

Speaker audio is captured and cleaned at the edge, close to where it's spoken.

02

Mix

Voices are mixed in real time into a single, balanced live stream.

03

Encode

An adaptive ladder prepares quality tiers for every connection.

04

Distribute

An elastic edge fans the stream out to the whole audience, in sync.

The challenge

Latency you can hear

Conversation falls apart when audio lags or drifts out of sync, and quality that's fine for one listener buckles when thousands arrive at once. PulseCast needed real-time audio that stayed low-latency and crisp as a room scaled from a few people to a stadium.

Our approach

We split the problem: a low-latency real-time path for the people talking, and an elastic distribution path for everyone listening. Adaptive quality keeps audio smooth on any connection, and the whole pipeline is instrumented so we tune what listeners actually hear.

The outcome

PulseCast now hosts live rooms that stay conversational for speakers and crisp for tens of thousands of listeners, across web, iOS and Android. Hosts sound present, listeners stay in sync, and the platform holds up when a show goes big.

What keeps it smooth

01

Real-time speaker path

The people talking get a low-latency route tuned for natural, back-and-forth conversation.

02

Elastic listener scale

Distribution scales with the crowd, so a room can grow from ten to fifty thousand without breaking.

03

Adaptive audio quality

Each listener gets the best quality their connection can carry, staying smooth instead of stuttering.

04

Recording & replay

Live shows are captured cleanly for on-demand replay the moment they end.

05

Crisp on mobile

Native iOS and Android apps keep audio clear on flaky networks and in the background.

06

Live audio metrics

Sync, dropouts and join time are measured as listeners feel them, not just at the server.
